Ukiyo Residence is a thoughtfully designed & built project by Arsh Associates, reflecting a harmonious blend of sustainability, tradition, and contemporary aesthetics. The goal was to create a comfortable, functional, and environmentally responsible home that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings.

The design prioritizes vernacular architecture and sustainable materials while offering modern functionality. Key elements such as Porotherm bricks, terracotta tiles, and terracotta jaali enhance thermal comfort, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. The inclusion of hand-painted pottery and traditional artwork showcases the rich cultural heritage, supporting local artisans and craftsmanship.

With an east-facing elevation, the residence features simple yet elegant architectural expressions that maximize natural ventilation and daylighting. The exterior is a beautiful composition of earthy tones, natural materials, and contemporary design elements, ensuring a timeless appeal.

Stepping inside, the interiors exude warmth and authenticity, combining locally sourced materials with modern design solutions. The open-plan layout enhances spatial efficiency, while high ceilings and large windows ensure a bright and airy atmosphere.

Key design highlights include a welcoming entrance foyer, a naturally lit living space, a functional modular kitchen, and serene bedrooms with private balconies. The master suite is designed as a peaceful retreat, featuring a walk-in wardrobe and an eco-conscious en-suite bathroom. The landscaped garden, a private deck, and integrated green pockets further enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Sustainability is at the heart of this residence. The project incorporates rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, low-VOC finishes, and passive cooling techniques. The careful selection of natural materials, including stone, timber, and earth-based elements, is blended with modern materials like glass and steel, creating a balance between tradition and innovation.
